AIR FORCE SCHOOL BHUJ REPORT : CELEBRATION OF LOHRI
The word Lohari is believed to originate from the original word ‘Loh’ which means the warmth and light of fire. Lohari also marks the new year for Punjabi farmers. On this day the farmers pray and show gratitude for their crops before the harvesting begins and pray to lord agni to bless their lands with abundance. ‘Lohari’ the festival is celebrated all over the India on 13January 2022. Our AFS School also celebrated this festival with exuberance and fun fare with teacher staffs and principal ma’am.
The popular winter folk festival Lohri was celebrated in the assembly ground. A bonfire lit to rejoice by dancing and singing around it. Peanuts, Popcorn and Rewaris were offered in the holy fire and handed out with great delight to the teachers and staffs with proper COVID precautions. A video of The Lohari festival celebrated in the school was sent in Whats app group of students to educate students about the significance of the festival. This helped to spread good cheer and welcomed by one and all.
