Van mahotsav, a week -long festival of tree plantation is organized every year in the first week of July across India when millions of saplings are planted. This movement wasinitiated in the year 1950 by Union Minister of Agriculture, Dr K M Munshi. Air Force School Bhuj also celebrated Van Mahotsav Week from 1 July To 7 July 2020.The celebration was an ideal opportunity to instill the value of social responsibility in the students towards safeguarding trees through various activities. This year’s event was totally different from the previous years’ due to Coronavirus Pandemic. School Management Committe and Principal Mrs Shalini Kaistha along with In charges of Pre Primary, Primary and Secondary Sections planted saplings in school campus by adhering to social distancing. Students were asked to plant saplings at homes as gatherings are not allowed due to fear of Coronavirus Various Activities were conducted online by class teachers of respective classes. Students from Grade I to X enthusiastically participated in various activities like poster making, Card Making, Watering and Caring for Greenery, Slogan Writing, Plantation of Saplings and Essay Writing on Importance of Trees. Our Tiny Tots of LKG and UKG also participated in Finger Painting Activity and Sowing Seeds Activity. Van mahotsav week was a success as many students participated in various activities in one or other way. The activities helped to bring awareness about the importance of trees in our lives. It also helped in strengthening the bond between nature and humans.
