Introduction :
Pearl School Of Excellence, Bhorara organized one full day workshop on New National Education Policy
2020 on 18 March 2023 in the school .The session began with the welcome note and introduction of the
eminent Resource Persons Ms Harsh Thacker and Dr Mayur Patadiya who are renowned name in the field of
education for their expertise and are expert in conducting various competency building programs for
mentoring the teachers, by the Principal Ms . The Principal, Ms Priti Vasvani, after a floral welcome of the
guest, in her keynote address shared that the New Education policy came into existence when the Union
Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi approved the National Education Policy-2020 on
July 29, 2020. This is the third Education Policy in India after independence (1968, 1986 and 2020).
Aim :
The main objective of this Workshop was to create awareness about the newly launched National Education
Policy-2020 amongst teachers and to familiarize them with the skills to help them understand its nuances,
curriculum changes, shift in the pedagogical skills and its implementation for the 360 degree holistic
development of its stake holders, the students.
Concept :
The resource person explained that ‘The new National Educational Policy-2020’ seeks to introduce and
implement a sea of changes across all levels of education in India, including the essential understanding of
education in the country. Further he apprised the educators that the New Education Policy is based on the
pillars of “access, equity, quality, affordability, accountability” and it will radically transform India into a
“vibrant knowledge hub”. He talked about the PARAKH and Skill development programs for preparing future
ready students.. Mr Harsh Thacker light on the creation of a new structure in place of old, i.e., replacing 10+2
with 5+3+3+4. He shared that the substantial impetus placed on vocational education or hands-on learning in
the new policy will give rise to multiple hybrid jobs. With the rapid progression of information technology,
and to be able to offer the students a much broader, multidisciplinary foundation, she expressed the
importance of using a holistic and multidisciplinary learning approach which will help the learners adapt and
reinvent themselves to the demands of the new hybrid work culture and dynamic socio-cultural changes. She
discussed about the redesigned report cards which will be a “holistic, 360-degree, multidimensional report that
would reflect in great detail of the progress, skills and uniqueness of each learner in the cognitive, affective
and psychomotor domains. She also added that the progress report will include self-assessment, peer
assessment and teacher assessment. The NEP has introduced integration of Experiential learning, Competency
based education and Art and Sport Integrated Education which was always present in our Indian Culture since
the days of Gurukul.
Conclusion:
The session came to an end by filling feedback form along with the question answer session in which the
teachers expressed their concerns and raised queries which were addressed by the Resource person . The
Principal, Ms Priti Vasvani proposed the vote of thanks. It was a very enriching and informative session. All
the participants were filled with new zeal to start working on its implementation in their own spheres.
