AIR FORCE SCHOOL, BHUJ

REPORT ON “ ECO-CLUB’’

DATE: 05/07/23

In simple terms, to go green means finding a balance between the lives you lead, the impact that life and your choices have on the planet, and being mindful enough to help maintain ecological balance to preserve the planet, its ecosystems, and its natural resources. It is not an easy feat since our society is not set up in a way to help us succeed. Our planet is growing at a rate that is not sustainable, it’s expected that the world’s population will hit 9.8 billion people by 2050, we’d need two planets to support our current consumption, and it’s why the move to go green is more important than ever. Eco-friendly is a term typically used to describe a product and how it’s made. For a product to be genuinely eco-friendly it has to take both earth and human health into account. The resources used to make the item need to come from sustainable resources.

On 05 July’23, ‘Go green’ drive was organized by the students of eco-club in Air Force School, Bhuj; on the account of Club activity. The students from Std  I and II bought small plantlets and seeds to the school and under the guidance of one teacher, students sow the seeds and plants in the soil. Recycling is a form of going green, and it poses numerous benefits to you and others. Students from Std III to V were asked to get fresh kitchen garbage (vegetable and fruit peel) from their homes and dumped it into a pit for compost generation. Eating green means eating local, organic, and seasonal products, and this very eating choice will have global consequences. When you buy and eat organic food and dairy products, you can boost the local economy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions required to get that food on your plate. Eating organic food will also make you a healthier person as it does not contain harmful chemicals, pesticides, and added hormones. So, students of higher classes’ i.e from VI to XII had bought many green vegetables, different types of sprouts, different fruits from their homes. They prepared a healthy salad and distributed it to all the teachers during the club activity.

When you go green, you are effectively reducing your carbon footprint. By reducing pollution, you are also reducing the amount of energy that is being consumed, thereby making way for a greener and cleaner environment.
